Facts Found

HUN8 was sailing on starboard tack on leg 2 approaching the gate. HUN8 was overlapped to leeward of CRO11 who was overlapped to leeward of SWE6. At the zone of mark 4s the three boats were overlapped with HUN8 on the outside. RUS14 was clear astern of all three boats. During the mark rounding SWE6 and CRO11 became clear ahead of HUN8. HUN8 luffed towards the mark, RUS14 established an overlap to windward of HUN8 and passed between HUN8 and the mark, and there was 60cm between HUN8 and RUS14. RUS14 passed very close to the mark.

Conclusion

HUN8 was not able to sail his proper course while at the mark. RUS14 failed to give mark room to HUN8. RUS14 broke rule 18.2(b).

Decision

RUS14 is to be disqualified from race 10.
